Production Futures Announces 2026 Breakthrough Talent Awards Shortlist
The next generation of entertainment production talent will take centre stage at November awards ceremony …
Production Futures has announced the shortlist for its 2026 Breakthrough Talent Awards (BTA) which celebrate the outstanding achievements, creativity and commitment of emerging talent across the entertainment production industries.
The announcement follows another successful year for the organisation, which continues to champion opportunities for newcomers and promote accessible pathways into careers across live events, touring, music, festivals, theatre, film, broadcast and audiovisual production.
This year's impressive shortlist, which encompasses 24 categories, brings together an exciting and diverse collection of individuals, organisations and initiatives, highlighting the depth of talent and ambition within the sector. From aspiring technical production professionals to entrepreneurs, innovators, and those working behind the scenes, the nominees represent a wealth of skills, experience, and potential.
Categories recognising industry initiatives which support emerging talent, as well as organisations championing diversity and inclusion, highlight the vital role businesses and employers play in creating opportunities, developing skills, and nurturing the next generation.
Supported by 34 industry sponsors such as ISE, Universal Pixels, Chauvet, ChamSyS, Neg Earth Lighting, Martin Audio and AV Alliance, the BTA offer recognition that extends beyond the simple presentation of a trophy. Winners may benefit from valuable professional development opportunities, including industry mentoring, specialist training, and bursaries, helping them to build connections, develop their skills, and take the next steps in their careers.
Previous recipients have progressed to successful careers across the production sector, with several going on to receive further recognition at other major industry awards.
Production Futures CEO Hannah Eakins comments:
"Every year, the Breakthrough Talent Awards remind us just how much extraordinary talent exists across our industry. Looking at this year's Breakthrough List, it's inspiring to see so many people making their mark, often at the very beginning of their careers.
"Our industry relies on fresh ideas, new perspectives, and people who are passionate about what they do. These awards aren't simply about recognising achievement, they're about opening doors, building confidence, and creating opportunities that can genuinely change the direction of someone's career.
"We're incredibly proud of everyone who has been nominated. Being recognised by the industry is an achievement in itself, and we look forward to bringing our community together in November to celebrate the people who represent its future."
The shortlist announcement comes during a milestone year for Production Futures as it celebrates its tenth anniversary and continues to expand its reach and influence. Working with more than 100 industry partners, the organisation provides vital connections between emerging talent, employers, and education and training providers. Its growing community, extensive social media presence, and nationwide ON TOUR events, help thousands of young people and career changers to discover the wealth of roles available in production.
The 2026 Breakthrough Talent Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 19 November at Production Park in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, as part of the final Production Futures ON TOUR event of the year. For the first time, the awards ceremony will also be live-streamed, extending its reach, and enabling an international audience to share in the celebrations.
