Production Futures Places Faith in PRG Apprentice Team

PRG apprentice team designs, builds and runs Production Futures TALKS stage at Production Park event …

Production Futures’ final ON TOUR event of 2024 took place at Production Park in Wakefield during November and proved to be another great success. Young people from across the North of England were able to connect with representatives of its industry leading brand partners to explore paid opportunities and free training, as well as taking advantage of workshops, presentations and discussions.

Once again, in keeping with the Production Futures ethos, a team of apprentices from leading global production specialists PRG, designed the systems and installed all the technical requirements for the event’s focal point, the TALKS Stage. With 38 locations in 29 countries across 6 continents, PRG specialises in lighting, audio, video, rigging, automation, digital services, camera, broadcast, and design for events of every size and scale, from concept to execution. The company is strongly committed to in-house education, and this was the third time its apprentice team has been involved with a Production Futures event, having already provided the same service at ON TOUR events.

Second year PRG apprentice Ben Foster was in charge of the project at Production Park, taking responsibility for every aspect of the production, including planning, administration, design, specifying and setup. Another team member, apprentice rigger Charles Rowson, worked on his endpoint assessment during the show, graduating with a double distinction, further illustrating the value of PRG’s participation.

Hannah Eakins of Production Futures comments:

“The PRG apprentice team led by Ben were confident professionals who provided us with exactly what we required. The production was of the highest standard and it reflected the exceptional skills they are developing as part of the PRG apprentice scheme. At each of the recent ON TOUR events, their work has been consistently excellent.”

Project lead Ben Foster adds:

“Opportunities like this are such a valuable part of our training. To be given full production responsibility for an event like this is a fantastic learning curve and one which I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. I’m proud of the team for their excellent work, particularly Charles who underwent the added pressure of an important assessment during the day. Naturally, he passed with flying colours!”
